The National Archaeological Museum in Athens is one of the most famous museums in the world and houses the richest collection of archaic, classical and hellenistic Greek art. - The construction of the museum in the 19th century was originally designed by the architect Ludwig Lange but his plans were later modified. The latest changes, including a rearrangement of the facade were made by Harmodios Vlachos and Ernst Ziller. The pictures included on the following pages do not claim to give a complete coverage - not even of the most prominent pieces! Probably they only represent a few of my personal favourites. |
